MICHAEL
COHN & MOLLY STONE
http://www.cohnstone.com/index.htm
Michael Cohn and Molly Stone are
two of America ’s leading glass artists, who have earned international
recognition individually and as a collaborative team.
We have included work by this
talented duo in our collection since 1981. They divide their time between
collaborative studio work and individual art pieces. We think their
collaborative work, which is signed Cohn/Stone, offers superb value for the
collector.
Molly says her work is influenced
by her “respect and awe of the Natural World.” This is evident in the
magnificent blown glass Pumpkins which she creates in a variety of colors,
shapes and sizes.
Michael’s inspiration comes from
“the purity of classical forms.” His large vessel forms, urns and bowls in the
“Tortoise” series exemplify this ethic. Michael earned his BA in Fine Art/Glass
from the University of California , Berkeley . He is a recipient of two National
Endowment for the Arts (NEA) fellowships, and frequently lectures at major
universities and art schools. His work has been shown in numerous group and
one-man exhibitions throughout the United States , Europe, Japan and South
America . Cohn’s work also has been exhibited at the American Embassy, Moscow .
Cohn’s work is included in major
permanent collections, including those of the Oakland Museum, CA; Corning Museum
of Glass, NY; City of San Francisco Collection ; Toledo Museum of Art, OH;
Atlanta ’s High Museum of Art; Museum fur Kunsthandwerk, Frankfurt , Germany ;
and in Japan , the National Museum of Modern Art, Kyoto ; and the Hokkaido
Museum of Modern Art, Sapporo .
Stone earned her BA in Fine Art/Glass from the University of California ,
Berkeley . She was honored with a National Endowment for the Arts (NEA)
fellowship and studied glassblowing at the renowned Pilchuck Glass School , in
Washington State and the California College of Arts and Crafts, in Oakland . She
studied on scholarship at Orrefors Glaskolan, the leading producer of fine
crystal in Sweden ; and was a recipient of the Niche Award
for Outstanding Glass in 1994.
Her work is included in the
permanent collection of the Corning Museum of Glass, NY; and was selected for
publication in the museum’s prestigious New Glass Review 2 (only 100 pieces are
selected for museum’s publication annually, from among thousands of
international entries.) She was also selected to make an ornament for the White
House Christmas Tree.
Stone’s work has been shown at

Museum , San Francisco ; Crocker Art Museum , Sacramento ; Tampa Museum , FL ;
