Glasshouse Studio
Founded in 1972, is the oldest
glassblowing studio in the Northwest and continues to produce exquisite glass.
In March 1998, the team of artists/employees purchased the Studio bringing a
wide variety of backgrounds and philosophies to their work. Their commitments to
their craft and each other have created this opportunity to design and produce
one of a kind and limited production editions of fine handmade glass. They can
be seen working in their studio daily.
Mark Monson - uses his experience in two and three
dimensional art to combine a broad range of styles and motifs in his work. With
solo shows in New York and Chicago to his credit, as well as numerous
commissions and awards Mark approaches glass with the skills and sensitivities
of and experienced painter and sculptor. He became a partner at Glasshouse
Studio after training with James Nowak for three years.
Craig Maxwell - began his career in 1989 at
Glasshouse Studio studying and mastering glass form and design. A precise and
disciplined craftsman, "Max" strives to create and improve the processes and
objects that express the passion in his work. His patience and eye for detail
help maintain the reputation for quality and aesthetics that the studio has
earned.
Chris Sternberg-Powidzki - began working in glass
at age 15. From 1986 to 1996 “Sterno” worked at Thames Glass in Newport R.I.
before coming to work at Glasshouse Studio. Here he was employed 2 years before
being offered a partnership, and has been head-gaffer, production manager ever
since. Chris has studied with Bennett Jordan, Lino Tagliapietra, and Petr
Novatny. His goal is to push not only himself, but the glass medium as well to
become a master glassblower.
Thomas Anderson - began his glassmaking experience
at Glasshouse Studio in 1982. He has assisted many artists in the Northwest over
the years, and attended workshops in Seattle, and Portland. Tom enjoys working
with his hands and teaching. He hopes to work with underprivileged children
someday

machinist to the execution and the finishing of his work. “Don” has over eleven
years of experience at Glasshouse Studio where his superlative craftsmanship,
